Christmas in Autumn by Jeibi Christmas in Autumn by Jeibi
I was asked by someone at work to do a drawing for the monthly bulletin board. This is what I came up with. It seemed like a situation befitting Alice O'Connor, so I used her even though no one at work will know who she is.

But seriously, Christmas stuff has been around here since mid-September. What da hell, man?

This is really just a symptom of the fact that retail seasons are completely out of sync from real seasons. For example, one summer I decided it was too hot for trousers and decided to go looking for a pair of shorts. No good, all the stores stocked winter clothing. Apparently that's what they sell in July.

I made the same mistake one December, when upon realising none of my clothes were warm enough, I tried to find something nice and snug. No such luck, apparently in December all they sell is clothes for the beach. Its like everyone is expected to plan their clothes a six months ahead of when they need them. Its ridiculous. So I'm guessing the whole halloween and christmas creep is to do with that. The shops want everyone to do their winter shopping, including christmas, in the summer.

There's a whole stand-up routine in there somewhere, I'm sure.

Well, if there are any stand-up comedians reading this, feel free to nick the material. Just remember me if you make it big-time... ;)

Heh, yah, I thought the Christmas season was supposed to officially begin the day after Thanksgiving, but these days you can buy Christmas decorations with your Back to School stuff.

Hahaha....this is so fitting. There's a Hallmark store here that's had Christmas stuff out since late August. They put it out at the same time they put their Halloween stuff out (and really, August is too early for BOTH of those things.) This is a great comic. So funny because it's so true.

So its not just the UK?! Thank God! I really can't stand seeing adverts saying "christmas is almost here" when there are no Halloween adverts, and when December comes they advertize NEXT YEAR'S Christmas!

Doesn't the Christmas season start just after Easter? I believe that starts in in February now.
